Last month I was fortunate enough to once again have the opportunity to undertake fieldwork at Saqqara. It was a shorter visit than the team had originally planned, but was a productive season nonetheless. We managed to complete our field tasks for the Catacombs of Anubis project (under the direction of Professor Paul Nicholson of Cardiff University and Professor Salima Ikram of A.U.C.)

Additionally I was able to undertake GPS survey at a number of locations across the necropolis. This is allowing me to ground-truth my GIS data and test it for accuracy. This is an important undertaking for my project as it enables me to understand the potential for error in my positioning of features within the landscape and the degree of confidence which I can attribute to that data.
