I visited the Sand Sculpture Festival at Weston-Super-Mare over the weekend, the theme of which this year is ‘When I grow up’. I was delighted to see the entry entitled Archaeologist, which was a fantastic composition featuring grand carvings of Horus and Anubis, a sphinx, and what may have been the ram-headed god Khnum all undergoing excavation by tiny archaeologists replete with their tents and vehicles. The backdrop was provided by a colourful and well-executed piece of spray art.

I can recommend visiting the attraction if you are in the West Country and fancy something to do on the weekend. There are many good sand sculptures to view by numerous talented artists.
